Aden Brooks is a Miami-based musician and educator. Aden performs regularly with the Atlantic Classical Orchestra (Vero Beach, FL) and Boca Symphonia (Boca Raton, FL). He recently toured with Puerto Rican artist, Bad Bunny on his Most Wanted Tour. And, he was awarded a Latin-GRAMMY certificate of participation for his recording work on Marcos Witt’s 2021 album “Viviré.” Aden is an adjunct professor of ear training/music theory at The Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, trombone professor at Miami-Dade College Kendall Campus, the low brass instructor for grades 4-12 at Westminster Christian School, and an active clinician and performer in the South Florida area.
Aden completed his Doctorate of Musical Arts in trombone performance with a secondary in wind ensemble conducting at the Frost School where he studied trombone under Tim Conner, and the art of conducting with Robert Carnochan and Maestro Gerard Schwarz. He received his Masters Degree in trombone performance at Manhattan School of Music studying under Per Brevig, and received his Bachelors Degree in trombone performance from the Eastman School of Music studying under John Marcellus. Aden performs regularly with orchestras, chamber ensembles, opera companies, wedding bands, musicals, and occasionally as a vocalist. He received the John Clark Music Award for excellence in brass performance upon graduating MSM, and received a Performer’s Certificate for outstanding performance from ESM.
Previously, Aden taught for the NYC Guitar School through their Onsite program. He has served as the Program Director for the Empire State Youth Orchestra’s Winds and Brass Program in Upstate New York and he taught at NYSSSA’s School of Orchestral Studies, where he coached brass ensembles and taught ear-training.
In addition to trombone, Aden studied voice at Eastman and was an active member and President of the University of Rochester YellowJackets, the university’s premier all-male a cappella group. The YJs developed an outreach program at Rochester’s School 58 during his tenure in the group, and led countless workshops in the greater Rochester area, the US, and abroad. As a member of the YJs, Aden travelled to Kenya for a cultural and musical exchange with the children’s choir of Mbaka Oromo primary school and with local musicians, and appeared on season three of NBC’s The Sing-Off.
Fun fact--In the summers, Aden takes to the seas and works aboard the historic sailing vessel, S/V Ventura, as a First Mate and as Captain of S/V Sunset in lower Manhattan.
